Arches oil paper is 100% cotton & acid-free with a balanced fine grain that is comparable to a stretched canvas but without the need for gesso making it a more convenient option for oil painters who want to spend less time prepping and more time painting!
The unique sizing and oil barrier creates a semi-absorbent surface that works beautifully with oil paints and oil pastels. The paper is strong, but lightweight, it can easily be rolled up to transport. Ideal for painting outdoors (unlike canvas). Resistant to scratching. Prevents greasy rings forming and protects the fibers from oxidation in contact with the paint. Very tolerant to solvents. The paint sits on the surface for an excellent rendering of the colours and faster drying times.
